Help Keep First Responders Local!

Did you know? Jackson Hole Fire/EMS relies on approximately 9–10 on-duty career personnel, supported by 74 volunteers and 19–20 off-duty career staff. Volunteer members must live within their station’s response area to respond to emergencies within minutes.
Without local housing, they can’t fill that role.
When local housing is out of reach, the ability to recruit and retain these essential members can become a challenge for the emergency services our community relies on.
A proposed amendment to the Jackson/Teton County Housing Department Rules and Regulations would establish a First Responder Preference in Housing Department Drawings. The proposal would give eligible first responders first preference for up to 20 housing opportunities, provided they meet the qualifications for each opportunity.
The public comment period opened October 7th and will run for 45 days. We're asking the community to speak up in support of the proposed First Responder Preference. Contact elected officials and the Town Council and ask them to vote YES:

Housing is more than a place to live. It's part of the infrastructure that keeps our community safe.
